Pet Registry

The Hunters Creek Pet Registry (HCPR) is a service run by a volunteer for the benefit of Hunters Creek residents. They may also assist residents in bordering neighborhoods since our pets don’t acknowledge boundaries. The Pet Registry is supported by the Hunters Creek Neighborhood Association, but all day-to-day tasks are done by a single volunteer.

When a pet is found loose in or around Hunters Creek, most residents know to contact the Pet Finder first with a picture and/or description of the animal and where it was found.  We do a search to see if there is a match in our database and if we find a close match, we call the likely owners to let them know who has their pet.

If the animal is not in our system, or we cannot otherwise make a match, we use a microchip scanner to try and identify the owners. Lost pets without any means of identification are listed on Nextdoor as well as the HC Facebook page.

Note that we do not run after pets loose in the neighborhood, but instead we put owners of lost pets in touch with neighbors who have found pets.  Also, if we cannot identify the owners quickly, we cannot guarantee they won’t end up in a shelter. This is completely up to the person who found them and their situation and ability to house them.

Registration helps us identify your pets if they are ever lost. Please register your pets using the Pet Registration Form.  Fill out the form and follow the instructions for submitting the completed form.
